What happens when you marginalize a group to such an extent that they have no choice but to flock behind a perceived strongman that can protect them from this marginalization, effectively being in a position of greater power than the oppressors?

Graeber. demonstrated that indeed the free market fails to use resources efficiently. As an example, private universities in the USA were shown to have more administrative sprawl than public ones. One would think the private ones would be cost cutting more rigorously.

Therefore the principle of the Homo Economicus can't be true and the free market loses its base axiom.

A friend recommended it to me because his boyfriend was reading it. He told me it was some "shifter trash novel".

Surprisingly, I kind of like it so far. The narrator is unreliable, and you need to read closely. However, the interaction between the protagonists is fun, and I have found myself laughing a lot so far. Their struggles also seem plausible in their own world, so that is great too.

Graeber talks about "right scolding", the nothing that no matter what one does, or feels entitled to, like basic rights or decency, both the left and the right will scold you for it.

The right will tell you not to feel entitled to anything and the left will tell you to "check your privilege" and mention every marginalized group that may have it worse than you before you may complain.

This book has taught me a lot so far. The main thing I find fascinating is that democracy within a structure seems to be anti proportional to its size.

This honestly seems like an argument for anarchism.
