Sound the emergency klaxons! My Kindle is *broken*! Anybody have an old Kindle 3 they want to get rid of? I loved the little tiny keyboard on mine and the luddite in me isn't ready to fully transition into a touchscreen ereader.

So I'm wondering if there is a secret book of commandments you have to follow when writing fantasy novels about rogues that insists there must be at least one scene in any given series where said protagonist must huddle on a rooftop thinking dark thoughts?

It's still a bit meh. Kind of like Hustle meets Zorro.

It's not bad. But I'm not swept away and desperate to get to the next page yet.

It's usually a good sign when you find yourself desperately glancing over at the clock and working out how few hours of sleep you can get away with just to get a bit further into a story, right?

Are the Americanisms in the first part meant to emphasise the difference in dialect between Roman/Latin and CelticTribal? It's a little disconcerting.

Loved the first story. Not quite sure about the second. Reserving judgement on the third so far.

Love the book. Hate that it's a hardback as it's v chunky and doesn't easily slip into a handbag.

Really not sure about this one so far. Feels a bit heavy handed. But hoping to be proved wrong as I read more.

This is a good story, well told but a bit grim for the mood I'm in right now, so pausing on it until I feel more upbeat again.

Quite interesting, but surprisingly Catherine Cookson ish with all the melodrama. I was expecting it to be a bit more subtle.

Very detailed but still interesting enough to keep going with. Not as dramatic as Wild Swans but can't help feeling this isn't necessarily a bad thing, having the characters portrayed as everyday, flawed individuals rather than epic archetypes.

Having to read this in stages as realising how little has changed since it was written tends to make me quite angry!

Kelly is reading The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists
Good message, but it's one brutal read, having all the awful details drilled in again and again. Determined to get to the end but having to take lots of breaks to stop the bleakness rubbing off! And I'm only 42% through so far :-/

So many stories in here that I wish went on to become full length novels. Will definitely be following up some of the authors in here. It's the measure of a good collection when the Neil Gaiman story is one of your less favourite tales!
