no idea how I can be at only 66% - this book is interminable

This is a bit heavy handed for me.

so if the town is all but dead, who the heck does this moronic MC think is going to buy the shop she's so anxious to sell? Stupid AND annoying AF. not sure I'm going to get through this one.

not sure I'm going to get through this. I know the author is "highly acclaimed," but I'm not impressed. The female protagonist is a twit, while the male is an arrogant liar.

This is actually very similar to The Others - differences in location, and details about the magic structure, but quite similar in many ways.

I'm finding this very slow going. Not because nothing happens, but most of what does happen seems more like a vehicle for the author's "imaginative" descriptions of [insert setting of choice]. The magic system is awesome, but the book would be better at 1/3 shorter.
