Because if I can start a lifetime movie during the holiday season and finish it, I sure as hell can drag myself through bad writing, a cheesey story, and some intriguing mystery (okay I’m into that part of the book).

Finally finding time to sit and read. This book is WOW! Her writing is stunning and the concept is unlike any fantasy book I’ve read (outside of the duology I love). I’m sooooo in

He’s coming off a little desperate and stalkery…. Not a good look. And when they finally sleep together, it’s a HUGE let down. The beginning was great, but it’s fizzling fast.

This book makes me feel claustrophobic. We are barely, just barely peeking out of the main characters head/thoughts. It’s a massive soliloquy that I can’t break away from! Help, I’m drowning!

I’m having fun and super intrigued with the characters, the magic, the story, etc. There’s one major problem though (not enough of a problem to peel my eyes away). There’s author has given ZERO overarching conflict. What is the plot? What are we working towards? It’s bizarre! It’s like you got in an Uber and they are driving you around to see the sites without a final destination. What’s happening?!

I’m bored. And the stupid amount of sarcasm is grating. Grow the fuck up.

WTF 😳 I don’t think I blinked a single time reading through the first fourth chapters. My eyes are dry AF!

Yeah, it’s good so far. But I also have to say, it’s annoying how superficial Violet is with Xaden. It’s also annoying how cranky Xaden always is. I’m having fun, but this book is screaming YA and not in a good way.
