i read "in defence of the poor image" & "spam of the earth" a few times each & both were so so amazing, bookmarking as id like to eventually read the rest of the essays 💗

listening to rabbi shmuel braun's wonderful seminars on kook's essay "pangs of cleansing" delivered in dual english and hebrew, and i am uttlery in love. so grateful for the analysis and guidance of the podcast as i am not familar with kabbalah teachings.

tolstoy has the amazing ability to make battle scenes extremely funny

2/3 chapters. the freudian/lacanian analysis lingered far too long on "phallic symbolism" and "the incest taboo" considering how both of these are considered redunctant theories. if youre going to write on freudian gender theory at least focus that attention on the mommy-wife/man-child-husband dynamic, which has some basis in reality. the part on male repression of feminity as heterosexual performativity was good.

section 2 (on psychoanalysis) is simply not good lol. pushing through tho bc the last section covers julia kristeva 💪

taking a break from war& peace to focus on something fun and like.. actually enjoyable.

ive been listening to 2-3 hours of this per day. should take me uhhhh 3-4 weeks to get through it 😰😰😰
