I feel like half of this book is really cruel male observations of young women over and over again. Written by a woman. A rather painful read so far.

Slowly getting there... now if we could stop referring to a girl as "the Object" I'd probably enjoy it more.

I may be grumpy this morning, but I am so tired of male authors writing about penises. All the time. Especially when it's authors I happen to love!

Here's a new answer to why you shouldn't harrass girls in bars: their father should never have to think about this kind of stuff happening to them, Yeah. The poor imagination of some dad a guy has never laid eyes on is more important of the feelings and safety and the rights of the young woman right in front of them.

I liked Eleanor & Park. This? I don't know. I was that girl (well except I had reason to be shy and boys didn't flock around me) and the whole thing is just SO cringy. What idiot hands in fan fiction as a college assignment?! Even EL James managed to change names and verse.

Slow read. Still can't stop giggling at the "unmentionables." Also, it feels so much more emotionally immature than the original. It falls into that stupid trap where authors believe in order to make a woman a fighter, they have to make her a man (with a female name and wearing dresses, of course).

This is so cute, it keeps making me want to cry!

I feel like Auel keeps forgetting what she already told the reader or her characters. Stop being surprised, Ayla, you talked about this before!

Girls mainly show up to beat other girls... so the heroic MC doesn't have to.

Basically this is the story of Darrow who is surgically/chemically altered into an ironman/batman/wolverine/ken-doll mixture so that he can attend a very dark Hogwards where he is sent into a Hunger Games/Battle Royal type of scenario. Let's call it the Blender-approach to writing fiction.

Still kind of disappointed. Expected more after reading other Kureishi works.

Tough one. Incredible sexism, then some really interesting insights, then BOOM sexist bomb again. Tough read.

I'm confused. I thought this was lit fic, but it so doesn't read like it. It reads exactly like romance/erotic romance so far... from the descriptions, to the dialogue all the way to the characters. Oooh, right. I forgot. When men write about love and sex and feelings it's *important*.
