The worldbuilding is CHEFS KISS

I’m actually invested in this despite the poor world building… the writing is good at keeping the reader enraptured and the pace is fast and doesn’t leave the reader wondering about the world. I still have a LOT of questions but I’m enjoying this nonetheless. Let’s just say if I turn my brain off and don’t ask too many questions this is a 4 star book

I don’t know what to feel 💀 I hate HATE the constant mentions of how British people say things “in England it’s called a FLAT” — it’s such a typical American ego thing to make a big deal out of that I’m getting annoyed at the main characters narration

Second, the main character is someone im not really liking — she gives very not like other girls vibes which is despise.

Yes yes I’ve started another book before finishing the rest. I’m in the mood to get into a lot of different stories and seeing which one grabs me the most to finish it.

I’m so confused this word building is so messy and the characters are acting on reasons the reader doesn’t understand because of it. The pace is quite quick which is good but the plot is compromised. I had to double check that this was indeed the first book in the series

Amazing incredible powerful

I’m appreciating the slightly darker and deeper turn of this sequel. It really outlines 1920s America and the struggles those that weren’t white went through, to immigrate, to survive, and to own their culture and heritage.

Oh shit it just got real

Evie annoys me. She’s a child in a game of adults and can’t keep her mouth shut at all. I’m assuming this is her flaw and she grows to learn from the consequences of her actions but honestly woman 😭 the immaturity is driving me insane
