I can see again without headaches which calls for my favourite book in the world to be reread. This is such a good coming of age, productivity reminder books to take it easy and make meaning out of the every day. I get evangelical every time I encounter this book, and I recently bought the new duology combo edition in Fernie yesterday. It has a stunning creation of Adam style cover that will inspire many more tattoos

Katherine calls this a perfect book and I have to say she's got a point

I need to lighten up and stop thinking about lung diseases and social ramifications of them

Trading the last few books about silicosis for this one has really made me appreciate every breath

Maybe this'll kick off a big James Islington year for me

This author really loves the word pate and the word frieze.
Also big Red Rising but I do maybe like the protagonist more initially at least here.

Guaranteed I've had zero thoughts about fish or aquatic acoustics or fish noises prior to reading this book

It's time to pick this series back up I think

Seems faster paced than book 2

Ringing in the new year with some academic reading on the death of coal mining in Scotland.

Yeesh this is right up there with Warbreaker for having some really horrific tragedy as the baseline way a society functions

This book is like five books bundled into one. It's like a crossection of Red Mars and Children of Time and maybe a bit of the Foundation series. Right! Up! My! Alley!

Spooky bog, spooky siblings, spooky mushrooms.

9 pages in and there's a guy looking at the stars from a mine in Alaska and mentions of asteroid mining. This book is getting logged as a mining book (to me)

Kind of reminds me of Suzanne Collins writing where each chapter zooms by because each chapter ends with more and more to be seen. Also despite watching Hank Green videos I somehow completely sidestepped any book spoilers or even book details.
