Catching up with the Dune series, going to complete the first six again.

I've been looking forward to this, might get some clues for family history ! But it is very interesting, and has given me a clearer understanding of Scottish history and politics. I don't know how the author gets info, hard work and research I think . But the facts are documented, and I guess some are formed by logical progression. I am just happy that DS has chosen a legendary subject I'm interested in. It's great.

Fight on in the shield wall !

On the things to do list, a flight in the Avro Lancaster or the Spitfire, but at £2750 for half an hour,maybe not !

Nearly finished this, the ongoing saga of Uthred, raging against the odds in an unborn kingdom trying to bring Alfred the Great up to realise and achieve his historic unification of England.

Read Sven's books as a teenager, so thought would go through a couple of them again.Whatever side you are on war is a senseless waste of life, the authors experiences really pull no punches of the true horror and comradeship of the common soldier.

Given up on this - it is in Scottish Shakespeare speak !

The book is written in the language of the time and its like reading Shakespeare - finding his tough going.

This promises to be a good read, with a hint of the 'Indiana Jones' adventure style, better than the last read 'Sword of God'(author I cant remember because story was so bad!).So looking forward to this book developing into a classic adventure /mystery.

The grail search continues, exciting adventures across a plague ridden country with the odd skirmish or two, glad I didn't live in those days, there's no nice way to die in medieval warfare !

The Archers Tale - also known as Harlequin in the Grail Quest Trilogy, another of Cornwell's great historic stories.

Photographically a better book,and looking forward to understanding weather and cloud formation a bit more

Well worth Reading.

Good book for familiarising yourself with cloud species -bit slow on this one , I am using it as a dip into at leisure book.

Overall an interesting read,enjoyed learning about a 'local historic hero' and the theories of the famous charge into the valley.

Up to Page 75 - Historicaly interesting and nice to learn about a local hero, but quite a slow read - I have to be in the factual history frame of mind to read it, and it can be tedious to get through, never knew there were styles of saddle to suit military needs and that Officers had to buy their uniforms and rank, also that cavalry swords were quite in-efficient due to metal scabards dulling the edge of the swords

Reading this book because the Captain used to live in the house just around our corner,one of the sites I work on, and opposite the Trinity Church built to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo, two globaly reknowned historic events within a stones throw of where I live - how cool is that!

It gets stranger, and although based on some true events probably is a bit far fetched !
