The first two parts of a superior Vampire Hunter D adventure. Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of years in the future, combines horror, sci fi, and westerns, featuring an enigmatic hero with an obvious but unnamed dad.

Interesting tale of racism and jealousy by an up and coming playwright.

Gave up in the middle when the library book was due. Clever, but I couldn’t see attempting all 8 volumes.

Early Fagles translation; excellent, as always. Check out his Iliad and Odyssey.

Not about happenings under water (like Spillane's later "Something's Down There"). This 1962 work is Spillane's first full novel for nine years, following 1952's "Kiss Me Deadly." Spillane was never as powerful as he was in the earlier Mike Hammer tales, but if you haven't read them, "The Deep" shows that he still had the stuff to make a tough, violent, and thoroughly enjoyable read.

I love primary sources!!

Fascinating account showing the intimate links between feminism and the origins of Wonder Women, with the invention of lie detectors forming part of the story. Whatever you might expect from this book, you're wrong!
