Not about happenings under water (like Spillane's later "Something's Down There"). This 1962 work is Spillane's first full novel for nine years, following 1952's "Kiss Me Deadly." Spillane was never as powerful as he was in the earlier Mike Hammer tales, but if you haven't read them, "The Deep" shows that he still had the stuff to make a tough, violent, and thoroughly enjoyable read.
