Wild and yet unsurprising to hear how much VICE was just contrived “we’re trying to be cool” bull shit. I assumed that was the case, but I didn’t realise it was outright crafted. “How can we maintain our badass credibility?” Lol

Flying through this via audiobook

Fun to hear about Toronto a few decades ago. Referenced hanging at the Rhino in Parkdale and that was also my go-to bar from 2018-2024 or so.

Fol some reason a real slog to get through.

Fine. Kinda wants to be "Narcos".

Good if you’re writing a paper or looking to do research about police procedures and serial killers, or a project about Keyes, but…

In Cold Blood, it is not.

A whole lot of meh to this readerrrr. No doubt, this life is an interesting one. I’m not sure this book does it justice.

100% made the right decision listening to the audiobook. Noah is an even better speaker than writer (makes sense though).

Skipped the post-Layne stuff because no offense who cares. Overall well-researched and interesting. Not overly long.

Off to the lollapalooza one.

Boy oh boy.

It's good. Very Layne Staley-heavy rather than band-focused.

Wraps up prematurely and disappointingly. Half the reason I was interested in this book was to hear about the QOTSA period. Overall, well written. If you want to know more about any or all of the following: Lanegan, Screaming Trees, Cobain, Courtney Love, members of Hole, Josh Homme, and Layne Staley... this is probably a must-read.

Great. A more adult, more depraved, yet less disgusting and amoral "Scar Tissue"-esque memoir.

You could care virtually nothing about Screaming Trees or solo Mark Lanegan and still enjoy this wild and disturbingly honest description of a life. ...It also features a who's who of the more famous members of the Seattle grunge scene.

Good. I don't even really care about Lanegan's music (some of it's find), but the life story is interesting and he's a good writer.
