what they did to bunny is so fucked up you guys im serious. my first readthru i was sympathetic to richard and really got lost in his perspective, but it's so striking to me now how fucking scary the greek class is

sorry for having a surface level engagement with the text but bunny and richard have so many parallels it's really striking me this time around. also lmfao richards fav book is the great gatsby and he "relates to gatsby" girl you are NICK (smacking him over the head)

the concept of bunny casually mentioning he bought a pink bathing suit with flowers on it for his trip to jamaica. in the same damn scene he’s making homophobic jokes about the waiter. while he’s dining alone with richard AND drinking a cocktail with a little umbrella in it

im listening to the audiobook and its driving me crazy because im noticing so many things on this reread and i can't annotate like i want to. just some really delightful foreshadowing!! richard talking abt how he would have joined a cult in california- then does just that in hampden. julian saying his students are boring bc he knows exactly what they will do- he's culpable. his influence over henry is v scary, too!!
