I finally cut my hair short again and now I look like the protagonist of Alita: Battle Angel and I feel like a fictional character oops.

Can GRRM please write regular history books? Because this is infinitely more interesting than any history class I've taken in school even if everyone is named Aegon or Rhaenys. It's too bad America wasn't founded on dragonback or else textbooks could be far more fascinating.

I seriously might have to stop reading because of these apostrophes. Literally 2/3 of the protagonists have names with them (Tol'chuk, Nee'lahn, etc.) and now there are creatures called rock'goblins and moon'falcons?? Why can't they just be two regular words???

Oh. My. Gosh. Why. Are. There. So. Many. Apostrophes. In. This. Book.

(I'm sorry but if you expect me to empathize with a character named Tol'chuk the half og're half si'lura? Not happening.)

Oh my gosh I'm remembering more of this as I reread it and I'm remembering how truly WILD this whole thing is. The family tree in the back of the book is the only thing helping me remember how the heck it is that /someone/ is both a cousin and great grandfather to the same woman.

It's never a good thing when the deus ex machina is blink-and-you'll-miss-it. Where did they come from? How?? When???

The writing is GORGEOUS but I could not tell you what the plot is to save my life :|

Reading and loving this book makes me feel like a verified Adult™

The worst feeling is when you read a really good book but then realize you have to write an essay on it. And then you procrastinate so much that the book is forever ruined by the time you crank out those six pages. The worst feeling is something I am all too familiar with.

Pirates! Sea monsters! Major sapphic vibes!! This book is just about everything I need right now.

It always makes me sad when I read a really cool synopsis of a book and then scroll down through some good reviews and stumble upon a super negative one.
Like dang I wish I had the self-control to not do that and just stay in my happy bubble of not knowing a book's flaws before I've read it.

Would I ordinarily read anarchist theory? No. Is it coming up everywhere in my research? Yes. Am I surprisingly interested? Yes. Is the writing style my favorite? No.

Ah yes this soothes my epic fantasy itch.
