Man, this book is difficult to get through not because it isn't interesting, it is, but it's like reading a textbook for uni or college haha

still fun though.

The more I read of this the more I get into it, I'm imagining it totally different to how the movie portrayed the story which is a good thing, glad that the Hobbit and even the Dwarves are finally being useful! Why did I doubt Tolkien? Haha

The main characters almost never get themselves out of a jam or fight anything and there's 13 damn dwarves! So far only Bilbo has done anything, it was with the one ring which at this point is just an ordinary magic ring which I find interesting

Am interested to see how far this author has grown, I jumped onto this series because I'm reading Frontlines by audiobook and I needed something to read on my phone whilst at work

So I'm back to reading this again, I have a weird relationship with this book it's been sitting on my pile for way too long, it's so damn helpful and at times very interesting but also a drag because it's not a reading book but a manual. I've decided to skim read it so I post the review, of course I will keep it on my desk as a manual of reference but just to finish it I will skim over the parts not 100% relevant.

Okay so I seem to have this problem every time I read a classic, I've got a similar feeling as to when I read Starship Troopers

It's like, yeah okay they were the first to do it and all but like, the writing conventions for back then aren't what they are today and the language being has evolved to different meanings!

About a quarter way through it, Elves are way different to how they're portrayed in the films, so are dwarves to be honest and quite honestly, I am enjoying these versions better!

Am still glad I started with the Hobbit, I couldn't deal with a huge read of Tolkien tbh, am enjoying the story enough but it's just... actually not my thing really.
