Ally Marov Depending on what you’re looking for, I’ve got a couple of recs. Some of these I’ve read, others I’d like to read at some point ☺️

1. Behind The Voice by Anthony Callea (he/him) - This is a memoir from the runner up of the 2004 season of Australian Idol. One of the main themes he writes about is his struggle with his sexuality while navigating this newfound “fame” in the early-mid 2000s, there’s also a few funny stories about himself and his husband. Personally, I didn’t love it or hate it but I enjoyed how candid he was

2. In The Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado (she/her)- This is another memoir but it follows Machado’s experience with domestic violence in a same sex relationship. It is written in a second person POV, where she talks about different events as if you were her, which I found to be interesting and something that I don’t see many books do. Chapters were short and quick to get through too!

3. A Good Kind of Trouble by Melanie Saward (she/her) and Brooke Burton (she/her) - This is a YA book following Jamie, an Indigenous girl, who develops a crush on a new girl at her high school. She gains the courage to stand up to her history teacher to teach them about Australia’s true history and this new girl stands by her as well. Haven’t read this one yet but it seems to be a good one 🤗

4. The Passing Playbook by Isaac Fitzsimmons (he/him): Another YA novel which follows Spencer, a 15 year old trans guy navigating starting a new school after being bullied for transitioning while at his old school. There, he’s accepted by his peers and even joins the all-boys soccer team. The catch is nobody knows that he is transgender because he is “passing”. I read this back in 2023 and I didn’t like it, mainly because I was getting back into reading and it felt very YA.

Ally Marov I have another two! Both are disability (Deaf) and queer representation.

1. Deaf Utopia by Nyle DiMarco (he/him) - This book mainly focuses on growing up as a Deaf man but I heard that he came out as bisexual in 2015, which he slightly touches on. I listened to the audiobook back in 2023 and I’m rereading it again on Kindle Unlimited. It is a beautiful love letter to the community he grew up with and I would highly recommend this 🤗

2. Continuum by Chella Man (they/them) - Haven’t read this one but like DiMarco, Chella is also Deaf. From what I’ve read in the blurb, they use their own experiences as a Deaf/queer individual to gain self acceptance and act as their own representation…

I probably butchered explaining these 😂 but hopefully you get some good reads next month! ☺️
