Ummm?? So far this book has me convinced I won’t find another piece of fiction this well crafted and a tale so compellingly spun. Although I’m far from the end, I’m sure this book will still be among my top favorites and has me reevaluating how I have perceived past reads. Overall really engaging and was not expecting to enjoy this as much as I am! :)

Joselyn Zamora Now having finished this novel - if that can be said, since it feels this novel has finished me - I can confidently say that I thoroughly regret not reading this sooner “but how tremendous the agony of unmade decisions”…. As someone going into studying the world of literature and creative writing, this sets a lot of high expectations for what you can only hope to achieve. Rio thoroughly creates an immersive atmosphere, seeing, feeling, and smelling all of the major plot points as if we as the reader were there. ‘If We Were Villains’ sets my perspective as both reader and artist to be more critical and imaginative, and it truly is hard to come across books the encroach on heart mind and soul in this way, (especially because of the ending,, I refuse to believe they didn’t get their moment!!)

Overall, one of my top favorite reads from this year but also likely to be an ATF. 5/5 ⭐️
