just removed every single book off my tbr to the point where i only have two!!! (ok not every single one since i have two). i feel free!! 🤩 there are a lot books i wanna read but i literally never get to them and having them on my tbr kinda distracts me. 🤷🏻‍♀️ the great thing about not being a mood reader is that i read whatever i feel like reading whenever so i’ll get to them…eventually.

Jennifer R So funny I just went through finally and rid of almost all my lingering MF books. Just a couple left yet I still have 303 TBR. 🙃

it takes time. i was at about 30, but a while ago i was about at 60, and even longer than that i was at 100+. months ago i has removed A LOT of my books but was still stuck in the 100s. it wasn’t easy lol. i just get tired of the books just sitting there.

JennaOtterReads Yessss I do this every few months and it is so freeing!!!!

it really just depends. personally my tbr bugs me lol and i never got to any book on my tbr. if i really wanna read a book, i’ll know the book and get to it.

mia i honestly should do this too so that i don't pressure myself. well done bb!

ᖰhiᖱeɭia this is a very, very tempting idea (not gonna lie) 👀 personally, it reminds me of my past hyperfixations, half-hearted attempts at finishing a series, dramatic declarations of "this has the potential to be my new favourite" (never to be touched again), midnight hoardings etc etc etc...lol - but never, ever what i will read. (oops that was long)
but omg i'm so happy for you!!

Rhea I did something similar too but I only kept like 220 books on my to be read list (a good percentage of which I have physical copies of or am planning to re-read because I had forgotten to record it on Goodreads to begin with). But I had over 900 books in my to read list so it felt so freeing only keeping what I would actually have time to read. 😄

bruna that's actually a nice thing to do! love that for you!!!

Cat the bookworm (semi hiatus ish) Sounds like a good idea, maybe I should try that, too. My tbr is permanently growing, and I’ll never have the time to read them all!

yup yup yup that’s exactly why i did this lmao like i have so many series unfinished and i always say/said i’m gonna get to them and never do. and yeah not having them on my tbr means i’ll probably never get to them now because i don’t see the book/series and will most likely forget about it but that just means i’ll move on to other books haha. as much as i hate leaving series unfinished i don’t wanna pressure myself into finishing them. if i get a big urge to finish them, i will.

yes that’s better than 900+ anyway! i have a lot of unread physical books i own and i wanna get to them eventually but there’s no point in having them on my actual tbr list when the book is on my shelf. having it on my list here doesn’t even help. it has pros and cons because as freeing as it feels, there’s a lot of books and series i’m gonna forget and therefore might not ever finish but at least it takes away the pressure. if i truly wanna read something, if i forget the title, i’ll just go back to my read books and find it that way. for me it’s no big deal. it’s a lot of books but i’d rather have a small tbr list that i never even look at.

do it!! mine also kept growing and i got tired of adding and adding books and never actually getting to them. it sucks because some of the books i’ll end up forgetting the title but, like i’ve mentioned above, if i really wanna get to it i’ll find a way to find it. it really just depends on the person.
