Yay! You go, Walter!!!!! You are experiencing the same thing I do when I read in a language I'm not so good in. The reading, because much slower than normal, is far more intense and you REALLY get a vivid mental picture of what's happening. That's what I tell people who are doubtful -- it's much slower, but a far more intense and vivid experience!

I didn’t expect to enjoy reading a book in German this much. It really does take a while to finish a chapter—I read the words aloud, and that slows me down—but it makes the story so vivid. I’m learning new words on every page and diving deeper than I normally do when reading. I’d recommend this to anyone who loves books and wants to learn a language. I visit Germany every few months, so I’m curious how my conversations will go after finishing this one—and of course, my first stop will be the Buchladen in Leer to buy the second volume of Tintenherz!

And how rewarding it will feel when you are done. That’s very impressive, Walter!
