Interesting yet so disturbing and infuriating. Betrayal by people close to you literally dis-regulates your endocrine system. The most damaging part? When you stand up for yourself and the DARVO (Deny, Attack, Reverse, Victim, Offender) method is used to villainize and ostracize you instead of addressing the problem.

The extent people can go with DARVO is genuinely terrifying. This can happen systematically where many people believe and side with the abuser(s)’s narrative, which serves to protect the abuser(s) from accountability and paint the victim as ‘crazy’, ‘vindictive’, or ‘wanting attention’, thus taking away the victims credibility when they speak up. It’s one thing to hurt someone’s feelings, but to rewrite and deny reality, at the expense of someone who is already hurting is one of the most sinister concepts I’ve had to grasp.

^ Sorry sometimes I get emotional reading and then go to goodreads like a little thought log and I know this doesn’t help against any ‘crazy’ allegations but it does feel a bit healing for me (aside from the fear I get after sharing that I will be bullied for these comments)
