Can we stop calling men grumpy when they are just assholes with zero emotional regulation?

Single dad only works for me when the dad in question is competent.

The best part of this sports romance is that there are almost zero sports in it.

I don’t get why he’s so closed off emotionally, he has great parents, great kids and a great career. So his ex wife was terrible, get some therapy and don’t take it out on everyone around you.

Good Christmasy vibes even though it’s not a Christmas book.

Ew, just had a good look at the cover of this book. Why does he look 17 with a pube beard?

I will always prefer the grump sunshine dynamic where the woman is the grump and the man is the sunshine. At least this heroine doesn’t take any crap from him.

Kristina He apologized immediately after I posted this 🤣 😭. He was an asshole for like two seconds.

Sarah Mac I’ll sign that petition. *waves pen* But I’m glad this one didn’t escalate into a…*lowers voice, glances over shoulder* …Big Mis.

Kristina So far no, but this author has a history of writing emotional infants and pretending they are deep and grumpy. Even though I love her and her newer books are way better, it’s still an issue.

Sarah Mac Emotional infants aren’t just a Karla Sorensen issue. Calling your hero “grumpy” is not an excuse for being rude & immature. Book tags are so f’ing useless. 🙄

Kristina Yes he’s not grumpy when he’s mean, grumpy is just complaining about the weather, not being emotionally abusive.

Thirstygirl Thank you!!!

Sarah Mac Totally. Grumpy can also be standoffish or annoyed by intrusive modern life. But when grumpy makes heroines afraid it’s crossed into asshole territory. Get it right, authors.

Kristina Grumpy should never be directed at the heroine imo, at the outside world sure, but the point is he is soft for her.

Sarah Mac Right. And if it is directed at her, it’s some stupid thing that he just learns to get over right away, like she puts her bare feet on his sofa & at first he thinks ack, I’ll tell her off, then he sees how cute her feet are & says nothing about it.
