Thank so much lovely! I'm giving it my best go and branching away from my fantasy/sci-fi/romance comfort zone! I think my brain just wants there to suddenly be a wizard 🧙 or a dragon 🐉 in the story and the fact that there isn't one is spinning me right out lol!

I've had a few DNFs recently so I am determined to see this one through and it's quite good really, just no magic or elves so I'm sad about that! 😂🤍

I totally get that feeling about missing dragons and magic because I mostly read fantasy before branching out! How about trying historical fiction based on myths? I loved Kaikeyi, which is based on a Hindu epic! Greek mythology retellings are also popular too :)

I'm glad I am not the only one!! Thank you for the tip! I might have to take a look at some myth retellings instead. I think that might be more my vibe! 🤍
