Yeah, don't worry, I am hating it. But, I'm pushing through because I can't take douchebags like you and the fans of The Help whining about me walking away early on this one for some reason.

Oh, I don't know. I haven't read 1Q84. I'm not in a position to say it would be bad or good as a general matter. I just hate it as a matter of my own personal experience.

i am always afraid when i see you have given a book with high ratings a low review because it tends to end up prophesizing my own reaction to the book. you have very similar taste in books to me... when it comes to the over-hyped, anyway. XD

cases in point: angela's ashes, uglies, battle royale.

Haha, yeah. I really hate those books. This one is not for me. My impression is that people with strong personal associations with drug use or AA tend to really love this. That makes sense to me, but I don't think I have the right kind of associations with drug use and AA.

I love DFW not AA or drugs, and Infinite Jest is mainly about media consumption. Don't read things just to hate. Nobody likes a hater.

You could take a little of your own advice.

Point taken. I should never read your reviews. I wish you would give great books like Infinite Jest a chance, but I guess I'm not helping my cause.

Agreed. Might be a good idea to read other reviews. I think I have given it a chance. Most of the people I love on goodreads love this book, so I was surprised and sad that I so do not love it. But, I like the different taste of my friends on here.
