I'm beginning to question everything I thought I knew about American history.

Umm... I aint American. I Aussie
No one needs to know about America when you are Australian.
You probably have all those words like Mom, Tomato Ketchup, an your accent. Wow we, your accent is confusing.
So I guess no one should read this book.
P.S It is American
yuck
I don't know what's wrong with these other people, but Prof. Loewen makes great commentary on subjects often skirted in American history. I've read pieces for reference and everyone could benefit from understanding more about history, whether they are American or not.
I enjoyed reading this. History, as taught in the K-12 U.S. schools lacks depth in the textbooks and therefore in the teaching that goes with it. So many interesting and horrible things in U.S. history are just not discussed in the classroom so we end up with a very skewed view of what has happened in this country. History of women, history of minorities and the history of science are usually glossed over. It's sad.
I read this book a long time ago, so don't remember too much of it (I should give it a re-read). The chapter on the horrors committed by Columbus really stuck with me, though, and I reference it every Columbus Day.
