This book keeps having the weirdest sentences thrown into the story for no reason. Like “Frederick took to healin’ the people with his secret elixir, our blood hidden in tomato juice” and “the popcorn ceiling reminded me more of cottage cheese sprinkled with glitter.” Why was it necessary to randomly include those in the story?? 💀

I keep laughing because of how bad this book is… In what I read last night, the mermaids needed to combine their blood with tomato juice to heal someone, which was weird. In what I read tonight thought, a merman just healed a human without tomato juice and just used blood?? I know it’s just a plot inconsistency but it’s still making me laugh because the most random part of the story was conveniently ignored lol

I’m not really liking this whole “woman mermaids are seductive so we can’t let them leave the city without a man.” It feels sorta sexist 🫠
