Chapters 2 and 3 are fueling this question in my mind: What is our motive for evangelizing? Now and historically. Historically, was our goal to share the message of Christ in its entirety, or was it to convert people in an effort to bring them around to our way of thinking? And what about today? What is our motivation for sharing God's love/message?

This book is providing greater context for me of Christianity and its part in the history of the US. I'm being challenged to view and consider current events through a more informed lens.

Meg As I reflect further, I’m changing some of the verbiage in my comment above: What is the motive for evangelizing? Historically, was the goal to share the message of Christ in its entirety, or was it to convert people to bring them around to a specific way of thinking? And what about today? What is my motivation for sharing God’s love/message?
