Hello, guys! I need some advice. I have had the book Pride and Prejudice for a long time, but I'm unsure if I should read it. It has glowing reviews, but:
1. I find classics challenging due to the old English.
2. Historical fiction isn't my genre.
3. I dislike books with unlikable narrators and little character development.
Considering these points, is Pride & Prejudice a good read for me? <3

Wll, I know that I really enjoyed it, even tho it's not the sort of book I usually like. Austen does tend to use long sentences, and it was written in the early 1800's, so it isn't exactly modern writing. I personally loved the characters, although I suppose some had better development from others. So... I'm not sure. You might as well give it a shot if you have it tho.

P&P definitely has a likable narrator, and strong character development for both the romantic leads. It's the OG enemies-to-lovers, but it's actually Done Well ;)

i think you should read it just because i've heard so many great things and i dont think it will be as boring as you may think
If you are putting so much thought into it you are conflicted. I would start the book and see if your reservations were warranted...or not.

Oh yeah, no, I agree with you!! To be honest I didn't really notice your comment the first time //facepalms//
No, it's fine. And the two leads DO have great development, just some of the characters didn't. And I just gotta say... (view spoiler)

Bella wrote: "Yep, like [spoilers removed]"Have you watched the Lizzie Bennet Diaries on YouTube? It's a very interesting (and hilarious) modernization of the P&P story, and deals with some of these issues we've been discussing.
