Thoughts on this one?

False advertising. There are no dragons.

I picked it up as an impulse buy at a secondhand bookstore because I liked the title. It's historical fiction about political intrigues in England/Wales/France in the 13th century. I definitely wouldn't have bought it if I'd known.

It's ok, but there are a lot of characters, and they tend to name their kids after themselves, so there are like 3 woman named Joanna, only one of whom matters, two Richards, two Hughs, etc. So it's a bit confusing, and there are a bunch of names I have just glazed over as like, NPC who doesn't like John, or like, NPC who serves Princess Joanna. It's also rather long, and every chapter jumps forward months/years, but I got tired of trying to keep track of where we were in time.

I'll probs finish it, but then I'll donate it and not seek out book #2 in the series.

I have it on my tbr so I was very curious to know your thoughts! I did know the no dragons thing which is a bit of a bummer but the synopsis still sounded interesting.

Oh gosh that's annoying I wouldn't say I like when books or people do that (just pick new names there are more than enough nice ones out there lol) Geez does not sound like a fun reading experience.
