The (arguably) main focus of the original AHF was Huck’s recognition of the humanity of Jim and Black people; this book shifts that focus to Eeteh and native people, which makes sense for the 1870s in the western territories. One way Coover seems to be developing that thread now (in the middle) is through one of the author’s favorite topics — Myth (157-158) — which he marries to Twain’s topic Truth.

Ch. XIX here echoes AHF ch. XVI, although Huck is a *bit* less the unreliable narrator now, in his thirties.
