I will definitely check this out. Thank you! I hope you like the new book as much.

(view spoiler)[HOAF was a good read, I like your research of weaponry and the rollicking plot line.
It perhaps is too bad the Nazi bad-guy in chief was "put down" as I think he could have been useful in a sequel. My background is a Mathematical who worked for the Military on several Black Projects. Have you checked out Operation Highjump? Your NAZI "protag" could have gotten involved. (hide spoiler)]

Sorry, Dan _ I've been busy launching my new book, Eagle's Claw. (Currently #12 in Historical thrillers) I have heard of Operation Highjump, but I don't recall what it's about. I'll have to review it. While, I don't have any plans to make it a series, I have two more books in process that are linked via characters. My 5th book takes place in nearby Jerome, in 1926, and is essentially a 'prequel' to HOAF, with Cates as MC. It has gangsters, and flashbacks to the Mexican revolution in 1914, and concerns how Cates met Rosa, learned to fly, and of course, met Pancho Villa. Half gangster story, half Western. It's about 50% done, and should be by spring, I hope.
I also just started another WWII thriller set in North Africa in 1942, and has the main characters from both of these books, HOAF and EC, working together. I also have two literary works, one of which I recently finished, that I'm trying to get to my agent. Still some work to do on both.

Operation Highjump was a 1947 "attack" on the Nazi bases in Antartica. Basically, the Nazis knew they were going to lose WW II, so continued the exploration of Antartica (started much earlier in the 20s & 30s. You would not have to get too much into the woo-woo ET aspect of it and stay pretty conventional, but much has been confirmed by the Russians and Adm Dönitz himself at the Nuremberg trials. It could be an extension of the Nazi Superweapons you touched on at the end of HOAF and maybe open a few eyes.

I was looking for something interesting that was more local t me as my 2nd book takes place in British Columbia and I didn't have the wherewithal to go up there and finish my research. I found a great website: sedonalegendhelenfrye.com and first saw "House of Apache Fires" there. It was so evocative that I began researching the Fryes...everything else came from that.

Tequila. Seriously, I often notice something on the internet and think, "That would make a great book..."

I'm currently re-editing my first book: 'The Winnemucca Curling Club' and have another literary fiction work 1/2 done. I am currently working however, on a second WWII thriller (not a sequel) as well as a contemporary thriller with an OIF vet as protagonist, and a YA dystopian story, as I really dig Post-Apocalyptic stuff for some reason. I hope to have WCC out mid-winter and another thriller out by spring.

Write as much as you can. Read and dissect authors you wish to emulate. Treat it like a job, even if you are not being paid. Do what works for you, not some other writer.

Creating something out of thin air.

I haven't had writer's block in years, but I used to blank my mind and type the first thing that came into my head, then expound on it. For example, once I typed 'The apes threw the typewriter into the swimming pool.' It gets your brain working again. I also re-read what I wrote the day before to get going again. Having multiple projects also helps.
