Being able to help more people through my writing. Marketing + sharing what I've written in fun and unique ways to get the content in the hands of more people.
Knowing some people's businesses (and lives) can change for the better after reading + implementing some of the things I've written.

Writers write.
That's pretty much it. There isn't very much of a barrier that separates "writers" vs. "non-writers".
Step 1:
Grab a computer with a word processing application or grab a pen + paper.
Step 2:
Start writing.
Step 3:
You are now, in this moment, a writer.
Everyone starts out a bit scared, a bit unsure of themselves, etc. You WILL get better if you write and write consistently. Start writing today. You'll thank yourself 6 months from now.

Well the idea probably formed over multiple years of studying marketing in intense detail.
Working to drive traffic, convert that traffic, and then monetize the conversions gave a lot of practical application and "in the field" experience of what the book talks about.
There were definitely several "ah-ha" moments though that helped make the main argument of the book clear in my mind though.

Reading really good books. Lots of books on business, marketing, sales, entrepreneurship, start ups, etc to get a stockpile of concepts, techniques, tips, strategies, etc.
Then I like to sprinkle in some short stories or fiction or works from really amazing writers. These works help improve your writing, increase your vocabulary, help craft better analogies, etc.

Right this second, nothing. But I just read "Write. Publish. Repeat." and starting January 1, 2015 - - I plan on writing every single day (at least M - F and at most 7 days a week).
I have ideas for multiple books. One just for Conversion, one just for Economics, several for Traffic. There are also some ideas that would really only make chapters or good online articles but I plan on producing a lot more written content + it all starts soon.

“All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.” ― Ernest Hemingway
I deal with writers block by unplugging the internet (or going somewhere where the internet is not available) and begin by just writing what is most true & present for me in that moment.
Often it is completely unrelated to the book or the thing I wanted to write about but it gets me into the flow of writing.
