The War Years series comes from a general interest in history. Michael Morpurgo's work is a big inspiration of mine. The original Made in Yorkshire series, again, comes from my interest in history. But I'm also inspired by the passage of time and the transformation of societies as one gets older. That's why I have such a marked contrast between tiny country villages and big cities within that specific series.

I get inspired to write mainly because of the positive reviews and kind words I acquire from readers. A cliche, yes, but a true one. I save all my positive reviews to a Word document and store them on an external hard-drive, so they'll stick with me forever.
