I worked deep within the Visual Effects and film industry for many years. Over the years I noticed that many of my colleagues had no idea how Hollywood really works. Nor how the Visual Effects from a business point of view. At the same time many film and visual effects industry enthusiasts had no idea what Visual Effects actually are. Why they are around in every film.
I thought with one book I could provide clear answers to both groups: the Visual Effects and Film enthusiasts... as well as the professionals. Based on the feedback I get I am very happy that I archived this goal. Inside VFX turned out to be a very easy and fun read despite it's complex sounding subjects.

Inspiration is hard to explain. It just somehow happens I guess. In the beginning its only a small voice somewhere locked up in the back of my head. At some point though, when enough time passed this voice starts to scream this idea. Then I know that the only way to shut this voice up is to write it out of my head.

Just write. Maybe pretend that you are telling a story to a friend, or if you writing non-fiction imagine you would tell a friend how this amazing thing works that you just found out. When you done... rewrite.

I feel that writing sharpens your thoughts. Whatever ideas or visions you might have locked up in your little head... through writing they get out. And through rewriting and editing your thoughts get sharper.

I write whatever comes to my mind. Could be something stupid. Something funny. Whatever it is... I just put it down. Then I go back to my subject and try to crank out 500 words. If it works I call it a day. If it doesn't... well... I still call it a day.
