Amos Clarke I rarely have it. But I have a strategy to deal with it that works very well: I develop my chapters by writing lots of one-sentence ideas. Then I go back and write a bit more under each idea, which usually results in a few paragraphs per idea. Once that's done, I've pretty much written a chapter. I wrote a book called 'Non-fiction Writing Essentials' where I specifically described my strategy.
Amos Clarke It's very gratifying to release a book that you're proud of. A lot of work goes into it...more than most people know. Mostly, I love the learning experience of understanding a topic more by writing about it. I also love it that I'm sharing ideas that are adding something of value to other folks. My experience in learning to play, perform, compose, record, mix, and produce, has been a hard road. It was all 'learning by doing' and I had no mentors along the way.
Amos Clarke My advice: don't be afraid to get on with it and share your ideas with the world. There WILL be folks out there that get value from your experience, ideas, and opinions. Just do it.
Amos Clarke As of 26/5/2018 I'm working on some free books for my readers. But it's important that they're also valuable and enjoyable. I'm just about to release a book called, '44 Reasons Your Mixes Suck - and How to Fix Them'. It's a very 'blatant read' and there's a humorous angle to it - my personal artwork, which is peppered throughout the book.
Amos Clarke My writing inspiration developed from my work in academia (I'm a lecturer) and a drive to create a passive income. But it blossomed into something unexpected; I found a love of writing about music production. Each book is like a mini research product because I always come out of it with a much better understanding than when I started.
Amos Clarke After many years of mixing I discovered the immense value of fine-tuning a song mix using volume level Automation. My mixes just started sounding better and clients were noticing. This was some years back. I started writing this book in early 2017.
