Disney always inspired me. The style transported me to a joyful world, which I could recreate only by learning to draw!

That's a great question, because clothes should be more than an afterthought when drawing a person - they're actually part of the character design. I have two books on the subject, for different styles: "The Manga Fashion Bible" & "The Fashion Design Workshop."

It can take a long time, which is why I created the book, "Figure It Out: Human Proportions." With this book, it's all laid out for you. If you know the proportions of the head, body, hands and feet, your drawings will look correct every time.

I like to draw in many different styles. what I like about manga is that there are so many sub-genres to choose from, including Shoujo, Kawaii, Shounen and Mecha.

Google the info with keywords, such as "publishers manga" and then look for domestic publishers only. Good luck.

Who says you have to be inspired to work? Work, and then the inspiration comes.

Writer often, but even more importantly, rewrite often.

Most writers are told - wrongly, in my opinion - to free your mind, go for a stroll along the beach. Fine advice, if you want to build sandcastles. But if you want to make progress in what you're writing, you know that the frustration of being "stuck" will prevent you from enjoying much else. Instead of giving up, start writing something else - something totally different. It can be a few paragraphs in your diary, or doing drawings for no reason at all. Then come back to your work, and you'll be refreshed and ready to go. This approach gives you a break from your work, but also keeps you in your creative mode. Try it and see how it works for you.

My most recent book is called "Figure It Out: Human Proportions." I realized that there hadn't been a serious book on drawing the human figure based on human proportions since the 1930's! And it was very outdated. knowledge of proportions is as essential as knowledge of anatomy for artists, so I simply HAD to write this one. People have really found it helpful. I think you will, too!
