I saw a newsflash on TV about three women who had been kidnapped and held as sex slaves for ten years. I was baffled and intrigued by the story...and that night I started writing.

I usually am inspired by either something someone says or does...or something that has happened to someone and I think, "How does she feel going through this? How is her life going to turn out after this?" I also always write my novels as if I was watching it as a movie. May sound strange but it inspires me to see it through others' eyes.

I'm currently working on my third novel, 'Finding Eva Nash'. It's a Thriller/Suspense novel with just enough sexual tension to keep things exciting.

Read a lot of books by other authors. I've read all my life and it's been my best teacher. Also, and this is big, don't worry too much about what your friends and family think of your work. I've found complete strangers to be much more supportive of my works...except for my husband who has been my cheerleader through the whole process. Poor guy has heard these stories and plot lines and character formations a million times!

Doing your work at odd hours of the day and night. I do most of my writing at night and into the wee hours of the morning. The other great advantage of being a writer is being able to create characters...good ones, bad ones and everything that falls in between. One of my favorite things is to throw in twists and turns in the plot line, too. I like making the reader think one thing and then a couple chapters later know they will be thinking..."What the....?"

Funny thing is...I've never had writer's block while writing my novels except when it came to writing a synopsis for my books. Then I struggled with writer's block like crazy and I was baffled by all the trouble and frustration it caused me. I seemed too close to the books to condense them down to a couple paragraphs. One thing I can offer if you do come down with a dreaded case of writer's block is to let go of the control of your book and let the characters take it over. You'll be amazed how it frees you up!
