Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Luke Strickland My most recent book Life Space was born out of the topics and thoughts that kept cropping up in my blog over 2014. I realised that a big theme for me at the time was about making space in my life for my dreams, so that's where the idea came from. The title came to me whilst I was out running one morning, a prime example of the power of our subconscious mind!

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Luke Strickland Happily this isn't something I've particularly suffered from. Being connected to other writers helps because we challenge each other to write to different topics on a regular basis, which helps to keep things fresh. I think you also have to give yourself permission for your writing not to be perfect straightaway - I've taken great comfort in the phrase 'first drafts don't have to be perfect, they just have to be finished'. As a recovering perfectionist, these days I just try to get my thoughts on the page first, then edit and improve later.

What are you currently working on?

Luke Strickland I'm preparing to write the follow up book to Life Space which will be about moving your dreams into a clearer vision.. I'm thinking about the outline then will start to work on individual chapters.

How do you get inspired to write?

Luke Strickland Lots of things inspire me to write, particularly the natural world and situations or circumstances I see around me. I love to learn facts and read a lot, and this all combines. On a practical level I blog regularly and am part of a community where we challenge ourselves to write on a different topic a week, which really helps to get the creative juices going.
