I'm a writer, muser, blogger and dreamer based in the West Midlands in the UK. I've always loved words but never realised I was called to be a writer until 2013. After doing something called Strengths Finder I felt able to articulate some of the key things that make me tick - like I had suddenly discovered my true calling!

Now I write all kinds of things, but recurring themes include following your dreams and being creative. As well as my latest book Life Space you can check out my blog at www.lukestrickland.co.uk where I aim to post at least once a week. Sometimes I post poems and interviews, but mainly I muse on various subjects and share interesting things I'm reading or researching.

Being connected to other writers helps because we challenge each other to write to different topics on a regular basis, which helps to keep things fresh. I think you also have to give yourself permission for your writing not to be perfect straightaway - I've taken great comfort in the phrase 'first drafts don't have to be perfect, they just have to be finished'. As a recovering perfectionist, these days I just try to get my thoughts on the page first, then edit and improve later.(less)
