I'm working on a few things at the moment, first and foremost is a comedy novel about a vampire, who unwillingly gets turned back into a mortal, I've had that one in my head for a while and just need to get it written down. This one will be called Devamped.
Next is a book about my experiences of having Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 22 months. It's a horrible affliction (although there are a lot worse) and I think it'll help me, and hopefully kids and parents having to cope with it themselves, as well as other adults who might like to know about my ups and downs. The working title is Pancreatically Challenged!
I'm also working on a short story about a meteorite hitting the Earth, but I won't say anything else about that one because it'd spoil the fun. Don't really have a title for that one yet, possibly Getaway, but I'm not really happy with that.
Finally, I'm not generally keen on fan fiction, however with the recent premature and sad loss of the great Terry Pratchett, I'm writing a short story based in the Unseen University on the Discworld. I don't really know where that one is going at the moment but it's provisionally called The Last Leg. That one is more therapy than headed for publication, but I might run it past Transworld Publishing to see if they will give me the okay to put it on my website.
There are a whole bunch of other ideas buzzing about in my head but they are the main ones just now.

To quote a famous, pointy eared, green alien - "Do, or do not. There is no try!"
"I'm an Aspiring author" is just another way of saying, "I can't actually be bothered to write a book", so pick up your pen, pencil, quill, tablet or keyboard and start putting letters on a page.

What a funny question!
I got the idea for my latest book by being born, 40 years ago, then living my life all the way through, up until the point at which I decided that there were some good ideas in my head that I could probably channel into some kind of readable story.
Other than that I read...a lot! I read books and I also subscribe to all sorts of feeds from interesting places, like New Scientist and various technology, science and other random websites.
If you don't read a lot then you won't be able to understand how words work and you also won't have a brain fizzing with ideas.
Specifically though, for Jump, I think I have always been interested in the idea of time travel, so whenever there was any kind of story remotely linked to particle physics, quantum teleportation or bread making (you never know when it might come in handy!) I read it, made notes and slowly developed the idea of how it could work for me.
