A.F. Stewart You should check out posts and videos by Nick Stephenson, Bryan Cohen and David Gaughran. They have some great tips and tricks for newsletters and ads, and David has a good free course on his website. Also, you should check out StoryOrigins; an excellent site for group promos and newsletter swaps.
A.F. Stewart I'd be happy to offer any marketing or writing advice, but if you need me to read or review your book, I'm afraid I don't have the time right now. I have a book launching next month for a new series and I'm part of an anthology releasing soon, so my schedule is full.
A.F. Stewart I self-edit first, and then hire an editor to do the final polish. The last proofread I do myself using adobe acrobat's read out loud. Hearing it as I read helps pick up mistakes.
A.F. Stewart Of course. I try to participate every year.
A.F. Stewart I am somewhat familiar with the event, although I have yet to participate as an author. It's a book fair with vendors, publishers and writers all there to promote their books. There are stalls, tables, entertainment and it's a great place to find new books and authors, especially local ones.
A.F. Stewart Most of them, at least as an ebook. Unfortunately many of my early paperbacks were through Lulu.com, and they lost their Canadian distribution agreement to Amazon, so they are only available through Amazon Canada's third party retailers. My latest, Ghosts of the Sea Moon, is available though, as I switched distributors. You can check out my website where I have availability of the books listed by store: https://afallonblog.wordpress.com/books/
A.F. Stewart Sarah looked in the mirror and the devil looked back. She smiled.
A.F. Stewart I plan on reading The Kaelandur Series by Joshua Robertson, Blade of the Destroyer by Andy Peloquin, and The Whisper Collector by Anais Chartschenko, among others.
A.F. Stewart I loved the idea of rewriting history and adding in science fiction elements, especially since they're two of my favourite things. And an added plus is the Victorian era setting, which I love to write about.
A.F. Stewart I have two most favourite authors; they're both so brilliant I can't choose between them. They are: Neil Gaiman and Guy Gavriel Kay. Both authors can make words breathe off the page and create places of astounding beauty and tragedy.
A.F. Stewart My inspiration can come from anywhere. I never know what will set me off on a writing adventure.
A.F. Stewart My most recent book is a sequel to Killers and Demons, and both those books reflect my love of a good villain. The idea for the book before that one though, Fairy Tale Fusion, came from my love of fairy tales, and noir film. I loved the idea of turning those dark fairy tales into detective stories with a satirical twist.
A.F. Stewart I'm currently working on Ghosts of the Sea Moon, a fantasy novel about ghosts, gods and sea monsters, two steampunk novels (Racing the Hellfire Club and The Anarchist Intrigue), and the first book in a dark fantasy series involving a prophecy and dead people (plus later books in the series will have gods and pirates).
