Currently I'm working on a YA mystery book for the Dee's Mystery Solvers Series. Not certain which series I will work on after that.

I usually have several WIPs, so if one storyline isn't working, I work on another one. Sometimes, reading prompts inspiration. Exercise or hiking helps. For some reason, driving allows my mind to concentrate on a difficult scene in a book.

I go into a lot of detail about this at my website blog. I've always taken Ray Bradbury's advice when it comes to writing stories. He always said to 'follow the characters,' and that's what I do. I don't outline. I observe my characters.
Books come to me and play out in my mind like a movie. My sci-fi series started from one sentence that came into my head years ago, right before I was getting ready to go to sleep. I got up and wrote it down. I had no characters, plot, or idea where this unique idea would go, but five full-length novels emerged with two more in the works.

The book I am currently working on has been an idea floating around in my head for the past two years, which is a new mystery for Dee's Mystery Solvers to unravel. Their club is still in its beginning phase after having solved The Beating Heart Beneath Hollow Hill Cemetery from the previous Halloween.
The new mystery surrounds Marty's black cat and finding out how it is able to magically appear. Title will be: Dee's Mystery Solvers: Witch Cat
I also love cats, so having another cat at the core of a story is pretty neat.
