Goodreads asked Leonard D. Hilley II:

How do you get inspired to write?

Leonard D. Hilley II I go into a lot of detail about this at my website blog. I've always taken Ray Bradbury's advice when it comes to writing stories. He always said to 'follow the characters,' and that's what I do. I don't outline. I observe my characters.

Books come to me and play out in my mind like a movie. My sci-fi series started from one sentence that came into my head years ago, right before I was getting ready to go to sleep. I got up and wrote it down. I had no characters, plot, or idea where this unique idea would go, but five full-length novels emerged with two more in the works.
