Neil D'Silva I observe. People, things, places. I am mostly inspired by characters that my mind builds on these observations. All my novels so far have had character-centric titles: Maya's New Husband, Pishacha, Yakshini. Once I have a strong plot, the writing takes care of itself. If I do get stuck, I drown myself in a good book or a good movie, and soon I am motivated to create something of my own that's just as beautiful.
Neil D'Silva Sapna's Bad Connection did take a long time to get written! The original story was written in 2015 but I reworked it several times and now the final manuscript is done. It is now being pitched to publishers. I am hopeful that the book will be out in 2019, one way or the other.

Thanks for your interest and apologies for the unpardonably delayed response.
Neil D'Silva Tommy and Tuppence Beresford was the first fictional couple that held my interest. Loved their kickass way of getting out of difficult situations.
Neil D'Silva Hello! The second installment of The Beast Within trilogy, which is titled Sapna's Bad Connection, is scheduled to release in mid-February 2015. I am working on its revisions at the moment.
Neil D'Silva I usually plan my stories in advance. I know how the story will shape up. Thus, I seldom suffer from writer's block. However, I am suffer from this when I am creating the scenes. If that happens, I give it a break. I go for a walk, for a movie, whatever. I distract myself from the book. Eventually, inspiration strikes and I get back to the book.
Neil D'Silva The best thing about writing is the ability to create new worlds. As a writer, I am creating everything from scratch in my space.
Neil D'Silva Just write. Do not wait to begin. Do not worry about how you will market the book or how you will sell copies. That should be the least of your worries. Just sit somewhere undisturbed, sip on your favorite drink, and let the words flow. Let the story be out. Then you have all the time in the world to proofread, edit, and, of course, market.
Neil D'Silva I am currently working on two books, which are a follow-up to Maya's New Husband, though not really sequels. The story of Maya is over. These two books are titled Sapna's Bad Connection and Kalki's Bundle of Joy. Both of them, like Maya's New Husband, feature a female protagonist who is caught in a mire created by the relationships in her life. And yes, both are Indian horror books too.
Neil D'Silva I have always been interested in Indian occult practices. It occurred to be, "What if these mostly rural practices were placed in an urban milieu?" India is a juxtaposition of beliefs. Even when people go for an engineering exam, they have a spoonful of curd for good luck. This was the basic melange that I wanted to write about, but with an element of horror.
