J.T. Williams I'd jump in with either Ranger's Folly (and into the Stormborn Saga) or The Rogue Elf of Urlas boxsets.

Also, I try to keep this post updated with my most recent timeline: https://www.authorjtwilliams.com/blog...

Hopefully, that helps!
J.T. Williams Short answer: YES!

I just finished the eight book in the Stormborn Saga (out of a planned 12) and the Shadow Elf Chronicles will be a standalone series but it directly follows from where Half-Elf Chronicles left off!

Thank you for reading all of my books and I am thrilled to know you're enjoying them!

Feel free to shoot me an email at authorjtwilliams@gmail.com if you are wanting to see any particular storylines (or more about certain characters/events) and I might just write it! :)
J.T. Williams Half-Elf Chronicles is more sword and sorcery than epic fantasy but some readers debate if there is a real difference so that's up to you. As for the future, my once novella series (Stormborn Saga) has three new books with at least three more coming and all of those are novel length entries. My next series will be Shadow Elf Chronicles and will continue from shortly after the ending of Half-Elf Chronicles bringing in several characters from the Stormborn books. Shadow Elf Chronicles should be 6-10 novels. From there I'll gauge what direction I go to immediately. Many readers want to read some work that takes place at an earlier part of the world but we'll see exactly how it all develops. ;) If you're not aware, all of my books are set in the same world with many instances of character crossover. :D
J.T. Williams Beren and Luthien from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion.

I love that story. Although it starts off as the typical forbidden love where Beren must prove himself to Luthien's father, it quickly turns into a very different story where he himself is in need of rescue. Tolkien was kind of ahead of his time in some ways... he was doing the strong heroine well before it was popular! :)
J.T. Williams Tolkien, Salvatore, and Brooks.

Tolkien's world building (races, languages, mythology and history) along with his love of including songs and poetry, was what first attracted me to fantasy writing.

Salvatore and Brooks were the first two writers that had a genuine fantasy feel that I could escape in but the "in your face" action scenes of magic casting, descriptive swordplay, and brutal deaths.

I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre in general but those three have to be my top ones.
J.T. Williams Creating a place from nothing, characters with their own lives from imagination, and then quite literally lighting a fire and helping them traverse it to whatever end comes.

As a writer, I can veil truths openly in text from the most simple of life's questions and philosophies to religious dogma and extremism.

Particularly, fantasy books are a unique creature. Most of my religions and world views are completely made up but my love of ancient histories and religious teachings can't be ignored because it serves as inspiration to me.

Writing also gives me an excuse to drink entirely too much coffee. Not that I need an excuse... I'm just saying. :)
J.T. Williams Write.

Even if you don't want to, don't feel like it, don't feel inspired.

You have to set down and start to get ANYWHERE. Some of my best writing days are when I'm not in the mood to write.
J.T. Williams The Northern Lights. No doubts there... but as the book(s) progressed I was inspired setting wise by the many Celtic tribe's struggles against the Roman Empire and the fight over cultural values, extortions, and the "gods/magic v.s. Roman rule" of life.
J.T. Williams A new series! My Saints of Wura trilogy is done with the publication of book three imminent! If you've read it and haven't reviewed, please do!

My next series will be in the same world but more traditional considering there will actually be elves, dwarves, and other creatures of magic alive FOR me to write about. At the time of my first books, most were dead... It looks like it will be a four book series with a novella prequel and I've written two of the four books so it is an exciting time.
J.T. Williams Music. It seems to be the answer to most writing hiccups one way or the other. Part of my writing routine is to listen to some type of symphonic or folk metal before opening up my work-in-progress. My genre of music can change based off what I am writing but in general the above is true when writing fantasy.

At a more technical level I have found that simply writing out on paper what I need next in my scene tends to jumpstart me out of any hint of writer's block... so there is that.
