I will put the story away and try to write something else. I'll leave the house and go see a movie. I'll ingest massive amounts of chocolate. I'll take a nap or go for a drive. There are many ways to deal with writer's block. No one single method words the same way twice for me.

a very short commute from the bedroom to the couch... LOL!
Honestly, making my own schedule is the best. Being disabled, 9 to 5 doesn't always work well for me. As a writer, if I wake up sick one day, I can take the day off. If I want to write until 2 a.m., I can also do so. It's all on me. Some people can't handle that pressure and responsibility. I prefer the freedom that comes with it.

My advice is somewhat controversial. My advice is to listen to all of the supposed experts. Find out all the supposed "rules" the supposed "experts" live and write by... and then find out which of these supposed "rules" You can successfully break in the telling of a good story. For example, many "experts" will tell you today, "Don't use those -LY words!" Yet if you read Dean Koontz, Stephen King, John Grisham, J.D. Robb, Stephanie Meyer, J.K. Rowling and many other successful authors, they all use those Horrible "-LY Words." How about you just write a good story and let your voice find itself. Use good grammar. But don't write cookie cutter stories the "Experts" would have you write.

Having just finished the edits for a recent book, I'm working on organizing my thoughts and trying to figure out which book to write next. I have 3 books vying for my writing attention as we type....

I wake up inspired. Writing is one of my greatest purposes here on earth. I was born to write. And I'll probably die with a keyboard or pen in my hand.

I don't really remember, to be honest. It just sort of came to me. Not exactly a good answer, I suppose, but it is truth.
