On a cold, snowy evening, I saw an elderly man walking on the road. I returned to offer him help. But he was gone. I scouted the area but found nothing. No tracks in the snow. He simply disappeared. I searched the news thinking I might discover what happened, but there was nothing.

Jaime and Claire Fraser from the Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon! They have a unique set of parameters that brought them together, and a unique set of parameters that made them fall madly in love with each other. Both characters are flawed, but their flaws make them even more endearing to the readers. They share a love that endures the harshest of trials, and a profound respect for each other that provides a solid foundation for that love to exist. I believe that many of the troubles facing modern day marriages involves a lack of respect between the spouses, which fosters a desire for selfishness, rather than a desire for selfless love. I'm so impressed with the work Diana Gabaldon has given us!

I have funny ideas about writer's block. I suffer (or enjoy?) ADHD, so my mind works differently than others. But, when I suffer what is possibly writer's block, it is because I'm distracted by a door knob or a leaf on a tree. Perhaps I'm distracted by another idea. When this happens to me, the first step is to recognize it. The second is to purge the idea out of my head, otherwise it will never go away. The third is to momentarily stop what I'm doing and allow my mind to reset itself. Maybe I'll play a computer game, or watch a TV show. Once my mind has "relaxed a little" I can get back to my keyboard.
Now, once in a blue moon, I find myself struggling how to get the story moving. When that happens, I push through. I will write something. Anything. Sometimes I will have to delete those last few pages and start over, sometimes those pages are just right. But, I never STOP writing when that happens. Water needs an open valve to flow. Words are no different. If you stop, then nothing will happen.

The best thing about being a writer is actually writing. I sit down to a blank screen and crisp, springy keyboard and the whole world is at my fingertips. I can sail the 7 seas, or build a rocket, I can visit ancient Rome, or I can climb a Mayan pyramid. I can do magic, or save the princess. I can solve the mysteries of the universe, or I can create mysteries that can't be solved. I CAN DO ANYTHING! It's rather exhausting, to tell the truth! :)
The other best thing is have someone read your work and appreciate it. For that, I am truly grateful.

Finding Nemo offers the best advice ever, "Just keep swimming!"
I wrote my first book on a spiral notebook with a pencil when I was a teenager. It's a horrible book--I know that now! But I was proud of it, (and I still am) but I was so disappointed when my friends and family weren't as excited as I was. But, I just set that book aside and started another story. Well, that one wasn't so good, either. BUT, it was better than the last one. By the time I wrote When Love Calls, I had three bad books behind me, but I figured out what I was doing wrong. The best advice ever? Just keep swimming! It took me 19 years from the first horrible book I wrote to the book that got published.

As of December 2014, I am writing the fourth book in the Glenfield Series. I am sketching out some ideas for a young adult fantasy/time travel storyline that is demanding my attention. Some other stories that I'm tinkering with include a short story about a family living in the woods who are suddenly attacked by ever living creature surrounding them, and they are trapped in their house. Who or what is causing this? And what is that tall, apelike creature, or is it humanoid?
One other storyline that I may try to publish (depending on time) is a story I wrote last year about a man who is faced with the choice of being true to his wife or cheating on her. In the spirit of It's a Wonderful Life, we will get to follow along while Justin makes both choices and will see what happens in both realities.

I'm never searching for inspiration. Really. It is looking for me. Everywhere I go I find something that will spark in my mind and a new story idea takes seed form. Whenever I hear a sermon in church, or see a funny thing in Walmart parking lot, or watch people at the mall, I will see or hear something that grabs me. Now, here is the tricky part--I have to write it down or I lose it. And I mean quickly, too! I have an entire box of story ideas written on napkins, envelopes, wedding announcements, guest name tags, etc...
My point is, I'm a blundering discoverer, inspiration finds me. I only hope to be paying attention when it happens!

I have no idea where the idea came from to write When Love Calls. One day I had a story trying to get out of me, but I had no time to sit and write. Due to a series of events (one of which was a heart valve replacement surgery), I found myself with several weeks of down time. So, I jumped on my computer and wrote When Love Calls in about 4 weeks. When Love Calls was moderately successful for a self-published book. When Taegais Publishing offered me a contract, I had to rewrite 3/4 of the book. Even if you have read When Love Calls, you will want to read When Love Called, which is the rewritten story. Trust me, what we did significantly improved the storyline and added some fantastic new characters. When Love Called will be the first book in the Glenfield Series.
