What a great question! The answer is that I don't know. I have no characters from that era pressing against my brain asking for their story to be told, but the books are selling well so I'm sure I will write another. Don't expect it before next winter, though. Instead this summer I'm revising my contemporary South Beach MM romances to make them better.

Thank you for asking! There is some mild growth in the characters' relationships but nothing that prevents you from enjoying the books out of order. Each mystery is self-contained. Dogs rule!

Thanks for the question! I love this series and hope to continue writing it. I like the idea of "open" and "closed loops" in fiction-- I closed the loop around Reed and Israel's romance, while leaving an open loop about their future collaborations. I don't have any ideas about future romances-- but those tend to come to me while I'm walking the dogs!

Only by a few words. I had to address new revelations about James Buchanan that my hero would have heard about but ignored because they didn't fit his story.

I was born in Trenton, and my mother's family was all centered around there. My dad's family was around Newark. So even though I grew up across the Delaware from Trenton in PA, I've always considered myself a Jersey boy! Thanks for the review.

Wow! Thanks for pointing this out. I'll have to update my website. You're right, Dog's Waiting Room is #13 and Dog's Honest Truth is #14. I'll have to figure out how to adjust the listing here.

Thanks for asking! I did get the rights back a couple of years ago and have continued the series-- don't know when you stopped but I am up to number 11 now, with number 12 coming this summer. More information at my website, www.mahubooks.com. Amazon also has a new series thing that shows the whole series at once.

(view spoiler)[Hello Neil, I have discovered the collection of Mahu Surfer books, and I have to say I am hooked. I am a true fan, a book person, and I prefer to hold an actual book in my hand to read, that's probably the writer in me (I'm in the process of getting my MFA in English/creative writing) and I can't seem to locate the first book Mahu, or Mahu Vice. Would it be possible for me to order them from your website? Avery (hide spoiler)]
Neil S. Plakcy
Thanks for asking, Avery. Here's the deal: those books were published most recently by MLR Press. Because I thought I could do a better job of selling them, I got the rights back two years ago and put out new e-book editions with new covers. It's a lot more work to create new paperback editions-- have to hire a cover artist to do the spine and back cover, and reformat my manuscript to 6 x 9 format. So I haven't done that yet, and I'm not sure when I will. Let me check my stock and see if I can sell you ones I have in the closet. Please email me @ plax1612@gmail.com so I can follow up with you.

Thanks for asking-- I love Angus! But the books are tough to write, combining FBI procedures with a story line that shows Angus continuing to grow. I had a three-book contract with Diversion Books which is now finished, so I'm not sure what the future holds for him. There is a short story called "Southernmost Point" in the anthology Florida Happens, where Angus and Lester go to Key West and get caught up in trouble. I have two others I hope to publish somewhere.

I plan to put them out-- but my narrator has been having voice problems so the production has been slow. I love his work so I'd rather not switch to someone else, but I'll have to see how he recovers.

If you like Wilde's writing, and you're interested in history, then I'm pretty sure you'll like Brandreth's books. Enjoy!

I am sure I read some Oscar Wilde in college-- but I have read most of the Oscar Wilde mysteries by Giles Brandeth and really enjoyed them.
In school I was never a big fan of reading history texts, but I love reading historical novels, particularly historical mysteries, and learning about the people and the time periods represented.
Now I don't mind reading bits and pieces of history as I research a book, and often find myself falling down the rabbit hole while I'm tracking intriguing ideas that might make it into a book.

It's a mix of both for me. I might start thinking about the next Aidan & Liam bodyguard book, and a plot will come to me. Or a character will start talking to me, as Kimo has done in the Mahu series, and I'll start following what he's saying and thinking about the plot he wants me to investigate. Sometimes it's a setting-- I'm working on a book now set along the Delaware Canal in Pennsylvania in 1873, right after the end of the Civil War, and I had to figure out who the characters were. And most recently on that book, a new character stepped on stage and suddenly I was writing like mad as he came to life.

Thanks for asking! I loved writing about Biff and would like to write another book -- but Genie for Hire hasn't found its audience and isn't selling well enough to justify the time to write another. Maybe someday, though.
Neil S. Plakcy
David, thanks for getting in touch -- I'm glad you are enjoying the Kimo books!

Ever since I first read the Narnia books as a teenager, I've wanted to walk through that wardrobe along with the Pevensey kids!

A student recently wrote in a paper that she was having trouble proving that her absent mother wasn't providing financial support, because her mother had used a fake name when giving birth to the student. That idea immediately set the wheels in motion for me-- who was the mother? What was she running from -- that the daughter might discover while looking for her?

The couple closest to my heart are Liam and Aidan from the Have Body, Will Guard series. Liam's my fantasy boyfriend, of course, and Aidan is a lot like me-- or like I wish I could be. I really enjoy the alpha/beta dynamic between them, and finding ways for Aidan to show that he can keep up with Liam, and finding ways to show Liam's vulnerability as well.

Hi Faith, thanks for asking! My editor at MLR, Kris Jacen, suggested this idea for a story -- send Kimo and Mike to some cold snowy location and see what happens. So in a way it's "out of time," though clearly after they've gotten back together! If I _had_ to place it I'd put it the winter before the twins are born.

Thanks for asking, and I'm so thrilled that you like the Love on series.
There's one guy hanging around in my head asking for his own book, and his own happy ending, and I do want to write his book. He's Eric, who is a vet who's just finishing his education and he's got some issues I've never dealt with in fiction. I have a bunch of other stuff to finish before I can get to him, though! Maybe this summer for a first draft, and then a while for the book to sit in my head before I can do a second draft, perhaps late in the year, for publication in spring 2017. Sorry to make you wait so long!
