Good question! Maybe how my body still betrays me and nobody can tell me why. LOL

When I began as a writer, I had no clue what I was doing. Or what to do. I still don't. LOL
Writing terms like head-hopping, building platforms, crits and crit loops, editing, rejection...it's a convoluted, sometimes painful road.
The advice I received along the way at times was cruel and often disheartening, but I ignored it and kept going anyway. I sucked in all the constructive criticism I could find like a vacuum cleaner and learned from it. As far as rejection goes, don't sweat it. It's flows through your inbox like a river if you're doing things right, but necessary. Keep plugging away.
As for me, I learn more every single day and that's what makes this so much fun...discovery of the new things. God is so good.
My advice? Never give up and keep learning!

My husband! I usually give the credit to my cat, but my husband, James deserves all the credit for my first novel being written. He told me to "stop complaining and write my own" when I filled his ears about the last book I'd purchased. So I did and the rest is history.
As far as the stories? I get my inspiration from the Lord. He teaches me so much as I put the pen to the page (or type along on the keyboard). Believe me, those lessons are as much for me as the reader.

Beast of Stratton actually came from a collaboration of my crit group, Rough Diamond Writers. We each picked a fairy tale and wrote a novella. My choice? Beauty and the Beast.
