Edit, edit, edit... If I'm stuck, I go back and redraft my work. I usually find that this gets me back in the 'zone,' and I'm able to start writing where I left off.

For me, that's the actual writing part. I love hiding behind my laptop pretending to be someone I'm not. The hard part for me is actually sending your work out into the world. It's a bit like sending your child off to school for the first time. Folks can be cruel, and it isn't always easy to hear what people think of your baby.

Keep reading, and keep writiner. I think it's really important to make time for both if you want to develop your own style and voice.
Also, don't lose heart. I'm still very much a small fish in this gigantic pond, and it's easy to take rejections personally.
In this day and age, your destiny is firmly in your own hands. If you believe in your work, there is nothing to stop you getting it out there on your own.

I'm currently working on finishing off the next Afterlife Novel, called The Listeners. It's due for release in January 2015, and I'm really excited about it. The story follows a girl called Miriam, who discovers that she comes from a long line of semi angelic creatures, called Listeners.
Her life has been building to this point, and now she must take on the role of a Listener; helping God to be omnipotent, even if he doesn't know he needs the help.

I don't know, that's a hard one. I love stories, I always have. For me, writing is as enjoyable an experience as reading. Now that I'm a mummy, finding time to write is a little harder, so it means I appreciate the time I have to work. I get inspired by people, places, sometimes even smells. I've always believed that writers are fundamentally nosy people.

I was at the Edinburgh Book Festival having lunch, and decided to start writing. The story was rather organic to begin with, and simply started with a writer sitting doing exactly what I was doing, observing those around her and writing it down.
