James Alan Gardner Thanks for your question, Adam! I had originally planned on four books, each centering on one of the four main characters. The next one would be Miranda's book, tentatively titled NOBODY TOLD ME YOU COULD BREAK THE MOON. It would involve some wandering through the multiverse in order to show hints of how the Dark come into being, and why the Dark and Sparks always fight whenever they come into contact.

I've considered self-publication, and I might go that route eventually. However, I'm lazy and would rather go with traditional publishing if possible. That's why I'm working on something completely new; it has characteristics in common with Dark vs. Spark, but no direct connection. I hope to finish it within a few months. Then we'll see if it sells. Fingers crossed...
James Alan Gardner I'm afraid the publisher didn't renew the contract on the Spark novels. (Sigh...) I have the next book plotted out -- it's centered on Miranda -- but I've had to set it aside and work on something else.

So my new book is very close to being finished; I describe it as "Sailor Moon meets Doc Savage in the French Revolution". But who knows if any publisher will buy it? (Before you ask, if it doesn't sell, I'll definitely consider self-publishing.)
James Alan Gardner I am currently working on Miranda's book, tentatively titled NOBODY TOLD ME YOU COULD BREAK THE MOON. I don't know when it will be finished, or published, but sometime...and I certainly intend to write Shar's book too, tentatively titled SO GREAT, NOW I'M A SUPERVILLAIN.

James Alan Gardner When I woke up this morning, the front door was open and a trail of bloody footprints was visible on the porch. My own shoes sat by the doorway, dripping wet and red.
James Alan Gardner Never say never, but the odds aren't good. My League books were published by Harper Collins, but now I'm publishing with Tor. Generally, publishers don't want to publish new books in a series that's handled by someone else. Besides, it's been quite a while since I wrote a League book, and my brain has moved on elsewhere. I may throw in an Easter Egg or two in the new "Dark & Spark" series, but I don't have any League plans at the moment.

Thanks for asking!
James Alan Gardner Writing has the greatest safety net in the world. Unlike doctors and many others, if I have a bad day no one suffers. I can always rewrite tomorrow...or the next day...or the next.

Also, the worst case scenario for a book is that the reader feels like they wasted a few bucks; but the best case scenario is that someone is permanently changed for the better.
James Alan Gardner I'm currently on the third draft of THEY PROMISED ME THE GUN WASN'T LOADED, the second book in my "Dark vs. Spark" series. (Superheroes. Vampires. Many explosions.)
