J.L. Rallios That's a fun question. There are so many fictional worlds, but the first one that pops into my head is Narnia. I guess it's my inner child. What would I do there? Explore the land and get to know the talking animals and mythical creatures there. Mostly I would want to see Aslan.
J.L. Rallios Nick and Nora Charles: They have great chemistry (with witty and playful banter) and unspoken trust.
J.L. Rallios I like to think, which I believe makes inspiration almost come naturally. However, it's the "perspiration" that follows which germinates the inspiration into a story.
J.L. Rallios I am working on a mystery/adventure story called "Had a Great Fall" set in modern times with Darren "Dare" MacTavish whom I hope to make into a series character.
J.L. Rallios 1) Read and write, write, write.
2) Be persistent.
3) Don't do what I used to do: starting over constantly because of not having the confidence to work with what I had already written.
4) Outline to whatever degree works for you, but at least have something definite in mind that will give your writing direction and focus.
5) Don't compare your writing to other people's. Accept that your voice is unique, but be humble enough to realize that it doesn't mean that your writing is gold without impurities.
J.L. Rallios Being able to reach other people's hearts with truths through the telling of a story. The second best thing is the satisfaction of sub-creation (only God can create!).
J.L. Rallios I simply write, even if it's a single sentence that moves the story forward in some way. Then I'll walk away and think about it "loosely" -- in other words, without trying to force the issue, letting it come in its own time. Another method I'll use is to work on the outline of the story. Sometimes I'll just rewrite some of what I had previously written just to get the "juices flowing."
J.L. Rallios From a short story I wrote for my church bulletin many years ago, but it initially grew from what C.S. Lewis wrote in Mere Christianity about a tin man becoming a man. In this case, however, I chose a gopher.
